Biography
I was born in
Rensselaer, Indiana on January 24th, 1957. For
the first five years of my life I lived on a working farm
that raised both crops and livestock. In 1962, my family
got out of farming, but continued to live in the country. I
grew up only a few miles away from the home of Indiana
literary legend George Ade.
I graduated
from high school in 1975 and that fall I enrolled at St.
Francis College (now the University of St. Francis). There
I played soccer, baseball and was a member of the school’s
track team. In addition to the usual college activities
(LOL!!!), I was also a member of the student government and
occasional contributor to the school’s newspaper. I
graduated with a degree in Business Administration in the
spring of 1979.
After college
I moved to Washington, D.C. There, after a short internship
with the Federal Aviation Administration, I spent the next
twelve years working a series of “bean counter” jobs. I
continued my athletic pursuits by playing rugby with the
Washington Irish Rugby Club. However, it was in Washington
where my performing career started. It began as disc jockey
with Nard’s Rock ‘n Roller Review. In addition to
developing skills in announcing drink specials, trivia
contests and last calls, I learned about a wide variety of
music from the “Golden Oldies” to the latest and greatest. |

Then, in
1991, I moved to Sarasota, FL. Soon after arriving, I
continued my rugby career with the Sarasota Rugby Club. In
addition, I began to develop my long dormant writing skills,
having last used them writing a newsletter for my rugby club
in Washington, D.C. After a couple of years of writing
classes and groups, I decided to put out my own book,
Sevenacide, in 2000.
After
retiring from active participation in rugby in 1998, I began
to work on my performing skills with classes at the Bermuda
Mavericks Comedy School and the Sarasota Players Theater.
Then, in 1999, I made my stage debut at Sarasota Players
Theater in Singin’ in the Rain. Since then, I’ve
appeared in over a dozen local productions, ranging from
light musicals to heavy dramas. I appeared in my first
featured role in the movie, Vampire Biker Babes, to
be released in 2007.
I expanded on
both my performing and writing careers. In 2002, I released
my second book, a collection of short stories called The
13 Colonies. Then, in 2003, I released my first novel
and third book, I, Vampire. My fourth book and
second novel, Phase II was released in 2006.
As a
performer, I drew on my nightclub DJ experience and musical
listening background and created a radio show called
Retrograde in 2002. Along with playing punk, new wave and
alternative music from the 1970’s, 1980’s and early 1990’s,
I have had the opportunity to develop as a radio journalist
by interviewing musical personalities from the era.
Currently, I
reside in Sarasota, FL and continue to pursue my performance
and writing activities.
